In the Asphalt, we talk about real world instances of basketball and how they can feed into our natural lives. The other day I was reading an article about the Golden State Warriors. The article was talking about how the Warriors weren’t worried about being the #1 seed anymore. As before, they chased it to assure themselves home court advantage. They no longer needed it because they were battle tested in long playoff runs. The same could be said for individuals in life.
What does being battle tested mean?
Being battle tested is the experience gained from doing what you feel like you should be doing or in this case for the Warriors, playing the playoffs. For you personally it can be doing ciphers if you rap, writing if you blog, speaking if you are a motivational speaker. or if you are salesman, selling.
How do you get battle tested?
Doing something consistently makes you battle tested. You can make mistakes and feel like you failed but you just continue doing it. Battle tested is the good and the bad that comes from experience. It isn’t perfect by any means but it means reliable. So when push comes to shove you are there and ready.
What are the benefits of being battle tested?
There are so many benefits of being battle tested. One benefit includes being able to jump into that same thing after not having done it for a while and you do well. Another benefit is your confidence is through the roof, it doesn’t matter what’s thrown at you. You feel like you can conquer because you’ve been battle tested.
What if you aren’t sure if you are battle tested?
If you aren’t sure more than likely you haven’t been. But that isn’t bad. It just means that you are on that path. One day you will look up and you’re the one handing out the advice. You’re the one walking through like you own the place and being unconcerned for those that hate.
So do what you do just like the Warriors because you’ll have become battle tested.
